Julianne Hough to Judge 'Dancing With the Stars'? Reports Say Yes

By    |   Tuesday, 19 August 2014 08:51 PM EDT

Julianne Hough may be returning to "Dancing With the Stars" as a fourth judge for the ABC celebrity dancing show’s 19th season.

Hough was a professional dancer on “Dancing With the Stars” for five seasons, beginning in 2007 when her partner was Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno. The two won first place that year and took home the show’s coveted mirror ball trophy.

But Hough, who has guest-judged the show during its 17th and 18th seasons, may be getting her very own judge's chair this season, E! Online reports, with sources close to the talks saying Hough, 26, hasn't yet signed a contract but has been offered the position.

The show already has longtime judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba, who have been handing out scores since the celebrity dancing competition show began in June 2005.

"We want all those three to come back," showrunner for “Dancing With the Stars” Rob Wade exclusively told E! Online recently. "I think the guest judges worked really well last season. I think there's arguments for adding to the panel and stuff, but certainly not subtracting. I really like the three of them ... getting the chemistry of a panel right is extremely difficult. And when you have three people like that, who are not only on-camera so great, but off-camera so great, you don't really want to mess with it."

Hough’s brother Derek, 29, will be returning to “Dancing With the Stars” during the show’s 19th season that begins Sept. 15 on ABC.

E! reported last week that several veterans such as Sharna Burgess, Henry Byalikov, Tristan MacManus, and Tyne Stecklein, will not return for this season.

Perhaps the most shocking was that Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 34, also announced in late July that he wouldn’t be returning to the show after winning for the first time last season with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. The popular Ukrainian dancer, who has been on "DTWS" for 14 seasons, said on "The View" that he felt like it was time for him to move on from "DTWS."
