Is Justin Bieber having a breakdown? The star admitted that he has been "struggling" and has asked fans to pray for him, without saying what is going on in his life.
The 25-year-old pop star opened up in an emotional post to Instagram Sunday just weeks after reports emerged that Bieber was being treated for depression, USA Today reported.
In his post, the "Love Yourself" singer said he was "feeling super disconnected and weird" and wanted to keep his fans updated in hope that his struggles would resonate with them.
"I always bounce back so I’m not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your guys to pray for me," he posted. "God is faithful and ur prayers really work thanks .. the most human season I’ve ever been in facing my stuff head on.."
Last month Bieber admitted to struggling with depression during the 2017 tour for his "Purpose" album and relying heavily on Xanax to get by, USA Today reported.
Speaking to Vogue, Bieber described himself as "emotionally unstable" and admitted that he battled to find peace and contentment.
"I just feel like I care so much and I want things to be so good and I want people to like me," he said. "I’ve always wanted security—with my dad being gone sometimes when I was a kid, with being on the road. With the lifestyle I live, everything is so uncertain. I need one thing that’s certain."
Bieber says he found that solace in wife Hailey Baldwin, whom he married in September after a whirlwind romance.
An unidentified source told People that Bieber's willingness to publicly admit his challenges and ask for prayers on Instagram was a "big step."
"The whole point of counseling and therapy is to get to the bottom of why you feel the way you feel. Once you reach the truth about yourself, you tell other people the truth," the source said. "This was Justin being authentic and telling people his truth. So that Instagram post was an important part of his recovery."
