A wax figure of Justin Bieber has been removed from Madame Tussauds in New York City after the statue was damaged over time by too many people touching it.

“With no ropes or barriers to stop them, thousands of fans have had their photographs taken with him since then — but it has taken its toll,” a source told the New York Post.

The damage was such that Madame Tussauds said “it no longer does justice either to the star or to the attraction,” the Post said.

Bieber isn't gone for good, though. Madame Tussauds General Manager Bret Pidgeon told the Post, “This is disappointing, but hopefully we can welcome a new ‘grown-up’ Justin back to the attraction in the near future.”

As the Post pointed out, “But I mean, who isn’t hoping a 'grown up' Justin appears in the near future?”

Bieber is never far from the headlines, recently being charged with DUI and facing vandalism charges in the egging of a neighbor's house. More than 100,000 people signed a petition asking the White House to deport the pop star back to Canada.
