Superstar Justin Timberlake is reportedly finalizing a deal with the NFL to perform at February’s Super Bowl halftime show.

It would be the first time Timberlake performed at the football championship in 13 years. In 2004, Timberlake took the stage with Janet Jackson and ripped off part of her costume at the end of the show, exposing part of her breast.

Because of that incident, TV networks implemented a five-second delay for live broadcasts in an effort to prevent violations of FCC rules from appearing on the air.

For now, 36-year-old Timberlake would take the stage alone with no planned or surprise guests, but according to Us Weekly, reports suggest he might perform with Jay-Z, with whom he has collaborated previously.

Timberlake’s career started with boy band N’Sync but he has released four solo albums since leaving the band and is also a fan-favorite repeat host of “Saturday Night Live.”

The NFL hasn’t announced a Super Bowl halftime performer yet, despite the reports.

“Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Washington Post in an email.

Many on Twitter thought Janet Jackson should get another chance, as well.
