Kardashian Christmas Card 2013 Has a Carnival Atmosphere

By    |   Monday, 02 December 2013 12:58 PM EST

In case you haven't received yours yet, the Kardashian 2013 Christmas card was released this week and it has a definite carnival atmosphere.

The Kardashians were photographed by famed fashion photographer David LaChapelle, who is known for his surreal, hyper-real style, which in this case showcased the family posing against the backdrop of a traveling carnival that appeared to be in the process of moving.

The panoramic photo featured an all-female ensemble with the exception of Bruce Jenner, who apparently managed to squeeze into the wide-angle shot despite the photographer's objections.

USA Today reported that Kim Kardashian said the family chose LaChapelle because they wanted "to change it up a little bit."

"When David LaChapelle says that he wanted this photo shoot to be an experience, he was not lying," Kim told E! News. "I loved working with David LaChapelle. It was amazing and it was so much fun!"

It was reportedly the photographer's decision to exclude most of the Kardashian men, though Bruce Jenner, the former Olympic Gold medalist who married the family's matriarch Kris, insisted on being a part of it.

"I think that's a terrible decision," Jenner said USA Today reported. "It's your mom's and my Christmas card!"

In the photo Jenner is seen enclosed in a glass case off to the extreme right side where he appears somewhat difficult to recognize.

The Huffington Post reported that the photographer's decision to exclude the Kardashian men was welcomed by most family members, considering that Robert Kardashian Jr., Kris' only son, "didn't want to photographed because of his weight," Kim's fiancée rapper Kanye West was on tour, and Khloé Kardashian and her husband basketball player Lamar Odom are "having marital issues."

The most revealing part of the photo was apparently Kim's black dress, as several news organizations noted online.

This year's Kardashian Christmas card has received mixed reviews online with Vulture.com calling it a "Sears Portrait Studio's worst nightmare," and Zap2It.com describing it as "fairly insane."
