Kate Gosselin filed a lawsuit Monday against her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, claiming he illegally obtained information he used in a published book.

Jon Gosselin contributed to a book written by his friend, Robert Hoffman, called “Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World,” that was pulled from shelves just two days after it hit the stands. Allegations were made in the lawsuit, which names both Jon Gosselin and Hoffman, that information in the book wasn’t come by legally, The Washington Post reports.

The lawsuit said Jon Gosselin got into Kate Gosselin’s private information, including emails and bank accounts, to write the book.

The two first became popular in a reality TV show, “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” which detailed their life with their eight children.

USA Today reported that the book, even in just the short time it was out, caused a furor among “Kate Haters,” as they read that she didn’t take good care of her dogs and used punishments like spanking hitting with a wooden spoon to punish the children.

Radar Online published copies of the court documents in the case.

“After the couple separated, Jon illegally hacked into Kate’s email account, and her phone, and bank accounts,” the court document said. “Jon also stole a hard drive from Kate’s house, which contained private and confidential material.”

The suit also alleged that Hoffman knew the documents were obtained illegally and that he told Radar Online, “I’ll be sued by one or more parties before this is over.”

Bullyville.com, an anti-bullying website, released text messages allegedly sent by Jon Gosselin proving that he had illegally obtained information on Kate Gosselin. On Twitter, several people acknowledged Bullyville.com’s role in bringing the lawsuit to court.
