Katey Sagal, star of FX's "Sons of Anarchy," has joined the cast of "Pitch Perfect 2," the follow-up to 2012's wildly successful musical comedy that just started production and is slated to hit theaters next year.
The Golden Globe-winning actress will reportedly star as the mother of a new
character played by actress Hailee Steinfeld, Variety reported.
"Pitch Perfect," which essentially launched the career of actress Anna Kendrick, raked in $118 million at the box office in 2012 — $65 million from domestic audiences and another
$48 million overseas, according to Box Office Mojo.

Sagal won the Golden Globe in 2011 as the tough-as-nails mother of an outlaw motorcycle gang in drama "Sons of Anarchy" and she was also nominated for the award four other times for her role as Peggy Bundy in the '90s sitcom "Married with Children."
Actress Elizabeth Banks will reportedly costar and direct "Pitch Perfect 2," according to Variety. It was Banks who first announced Sagal's casting on Twitter.
Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow will reprise their roles from the original "Pitch Perfect," according to Variety. Snow posted the first picture of the new cast on Instagram this week.
Despite the photo and Twitter announcement,
Tara Aquino of Complex.com wrote Thursday that she wanted more.
"The sequel doesn't hit theaters 'til May 15 of next year, and plot details have yet to be revealed — all we know is that it'll follow Kendrick's Beca, Wilson's Fat Amy, and the rest of the crew through graduation — so this should tide over hungry 'Pitch Perfect' stans for now," Aquino wrote. "Side note: C'mon 'Pitch Perfect' producers, stop giving us crumbs."
