Katherine Heigl Hard To Work With, Not To Mention Her Mom

Katherine Heigl, the 34-year-old actress who starred in the TV series "Grey's Anatomy" and in movies like "Knocked Up" and "The Ugly Truth," is reportedly losing work due to her apparent bad attitude on and off the set and her mother's alleged difficult, controlling personality.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, which interviewed several executives and producers who have worked with Heigl, the actress' poor reputation has discouraged those in the industry from selecting her for movie roles.

Heigl is consequently refocusing her career on TV roles, as opposed to those on the big screen, which are less illustrious and generally pay less.

"She can cost you time every single day of shooting," a source told THR. "Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day. Even getting her deal closed at Warners was hard. She hit that point of 'no.' "

In 2010, Heigl left "Grey's Anatomy" on bad terms after having repeatedly criticized the show's writing in public.

Two years earlier, Heigl withdraw her name from Emmy consideration for "Grey's Anatomy" saying, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination...I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials," UPI.com reported.

According to a source close to Heigl, the star knows she needs to rebuild.

"She's really determined to put everything behind her," says this insider. "The only way to do that is to go to work in film or television with good people and for those people to have good things to report back. And it's not an overnight thing."

The source added that Heigl's problem is industry-related and has not affected her fan base, which the source described as "really loyal," and "waiting to see her."

In addition to the actress' notorious bad behavior, Heigl's mother is reportedly no better.

"I have never experienced anything like Nancy Heigl," another source told THR, referring to the actress' mother.

"It's about the mouth. 'F--- you. You are a f---ing liar.' Whatever you'd say, you were an idiot," the source continued speaking about the actress' mother. "The call would be, 'This is the worst craft service we've ever had! There's nothing to eat! This is the worst wardrobe!' You knew that every day, you were going to get slammed. The frustrating part is [Heigl] is incredibly talented and smart."

Despite her apparent difficulty landing a role on the big screen, Heigl will be in a new NBC pilot the network announced on Sept. 9, in which she will be playing a CIA's chief liaison to the president.

"The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven't seen before in film or television," Heigl said in a statement, UPI.com reported. "I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life."
