Kathy Griffin's Trump apology was retracted, and the comedian, who came under fire after releasing an image of herself holding a bloody head resembling Donald Trump, slammed the president’s actions during an appearance on Australian TV on Tuesday.
Chatting to hosts on "Sunrise," Griffin said she as no longer sorry.
"The whole thing got so blown out of proportion, and I lost everybody," she said on the show. "Like, I had Chelsea Clinton tweeting against me. I had friends, Debra Messing from ‘Will and Grace,’ tweeting against me. I mean, I lost everybody."
The comedian immediately offered an apology after the image she had posted to social media went viral however the damage had already been done.
The Cut noted that Griffin had lost her spot as co-host on CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast and was subject to investigations from the Secret Service.
Additionally, various live performances had been cancelled and she lost a lucrative endorsement deal.
"I have been through the mill," she told hosts on "Sunrise." "I didn’t just lose one night on CNN- my entire tour was cancelled within 24 hours because every single theater got all these death threats. I mean, these Trump fans, they’re hard core."
When pushed by one of the TV show’s hosts about whether she thought the gory Trump images were over the line, Griffin maintained her stance.
"Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the president of the United States is committing," she said, adding that she was "on a mission to tell people, honestly, if it happened to me, as big mouthed and obnoxious as I am, it can happen to you."
Griffin’s appearance on "Sunrise" comes ahead of her Australian tour later this year.
The comedian will appear in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth in October and said she was excited to share her recent Trump experience with audiences.
"One photo that sparked a conversation led to offers from around the world," she told The Music.
"So I look forward to making audiences laugh, telling them the whole sorted, ridiculous, but hilarious story, and hey, the Sydney Opera House isn’t a bad place to share that, right?"
