Megyn Kelly's awkward first week on daytime television included a cameraman swearing on air, Jane Fonda snapping over a question about facelifts and Debra Messing reportedly getting in hot water with NBC executives for complaining about her interview on the debut of "Megyn Kelly Today."
On Thursday, Kelly's interview with U.S. Olympic soccer star Carli Lloyd appeared to be going well when an unidentified cameraman stepped into the video frame and blocked the view of Lloyd, Entertainment Weekly reported.
The cameraman audibly said to himself "s***" when he realized he was in the way, the entertainment website reported.
"Megyn Kelly Today" kicked off on Monday with the former Fox News host making what EW described as "clunky comments" to a gay fan of the NBC show "Will & Grace," where the cast appeared to promote the NBC sitcom's reboot.
EW said Kelly invited a "superfan" of the comedy, Russel Turner, to meet the cast and Kelly asked, "Is it true that you became a lawyer — and you became gay — because of Will?"
After saying Turner won tickets for a taping to the show, Kelly quipped, "I think the 'Will & Grace' thing and the gay thing is going to work out great," EW said.
That led to show co-star Messing bashing Kelly on her Instagram page, per the New York Post’s Page Six, which now appears to be deleted. Messing had said, Page Six noted, "The itinerary just said 'Today' Show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments."
The Post reported on Wednesday that an NBC executive came down hard on Messing about the comments.
"Debra was told to cut it out by someone high up in the NBC Entertainment division run by Bob Greenblatt, via her agent or publicist," the source told Page Six.
On Wednesday, Kelly asked Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda about her history with plastic surgery, all while interviewing her about the upcoming Netflix movie "Our Souls at Night" with Robert Redford, EW said.
Fonda paused before asking, "We really want to talk about that right now?" She changed the subject, and then complained later on "Entertainment Tonight Canada."
"Given the fact that we don't have a lot of time and (Redford) is right here, it's a weird thing to bring up – whether I've had plastic surgery or not. I have and I've talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question," Fonda told "ET Canada."
