Kelly Ripa isn’t afraid to play bad cop when it comes to raising her 13-year-old daughter Lola, even if it means sparking World War III by taking away the teen's phone.
The "Live! With Kelly and Michael" co-host stopped by "The Wendy Williams Show" last week to dish on her parenting philosophy, admitting that she's more concerned with being a mom than a friend to her three kids with Mark Consuelos.
"[Lola] recently lost her computer and phone privileges, so it's like taking away oxygen,"
Ripa explained to Williams, according to E! Online. "She was texting when she was supposed to be studying for Spanish."
"I don't think she likes me, but I don't care," she continued. "I'm like, 'I'm not your friend, I'm your mom. I'm not your friend.'"
Ripa also said she has to keep a handle on her kids' social media use in order to teach them about privacy.
"We are like very fair parents and we will give you certain freedoms," she said. "When you want privacy in a not-private world — like, you can't have privacy and be on Instagram. I'm sorry, that's not how it works. Privacy is for if you want to write a letter or write in your journal, I'm not going to read that. But if you want to tweet about what a pain in the butt your mom is, I'm gonna see that."
