Key Lime Oreo for Summer Part of Nabisco Creative Cookie Binge

By    |   Friday, 10 July 2015 07:30 AM EDT

Key Lime Pie is the newest flavor of Oreo, and many are saying it’s the perfect cookie for summer.

According to Town and Country magazine, parent company Nabisco has been hard at work on new and exciting iterations of the iconic treat, having just announced its launch of Oreo Thins.

Many sweet toothed fans celebrated by taking to social media sites like Twitter, exalting the new flavor.

Oreo Thins hit store shelves on July 13, but Key Lime Pie Oreos are already available in stores and online. Consumers better act quickly, however, as Nabisco said the cookies will only around for a limited time starting this week.

Other recent Oreo flavors include Cotton Candy and Red Velvet, released in April and February of this year, respectively. Past Oreo flavors, which can still be found online in some cases, include Pumpkin Spice, Candy Corn, Watermelon, S'mores, Limeade, and more.

Some Oreo fans have speculated that the new Key Lime Pie cookies are an updated version of the Limeade Oreo, or perhaps some combination of Limeade and S'mores.

People magazine noted that some genius confectioners have already used crushed Key Lime Pie Oreos as a crust for a real Key Lime Pie.
