A photo of a kid on his phone with Justin Timberlake went Super Bowl viral, generating seemingly countless memes and reactions.
Ryan McKenna, 13, of Hingham, Massachusetts, took a selfie with the pop superstar as the multi-Grammy winner sang his way through the stands of U.S. Bank Stadium during halftime of Super Bowl LII, as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots 41-33.
After McKenna and Timberlake shared the photo together, McKenna went right back to his phone while fans danced around him, the Huffington Post reported. The teen's occupation with his phone drew plenty of attention on social media.
What those fans might have missed was that McKenna might have been reviewing his shot of him and Timberlake together.
"It' been so crazy," said the seventh-grader who had already received an invitation to appear on "Good Morning America" on Monday, according to the Pioneer Press. "I don't even know what to think. All my friends have been texting me and stuff. It’s insane.”
"My phone is almost dead. I've gotten so many notifications. I've got like 36 Snapchats, like 21 DMs, and like 150 follower requests on Instagram," McKenna added.
McKenna told the Pioneer Press that he was shooting a video of the halftime show when Timberlake came dancing his way, changing his original plans as he switched to his camera app.
"I just thought to myself, 'I'll never get this opportunity again in my whole life,'" McKenna said to the Pioneer Press. "I just went for it."
The teen's father, John McKenna, stood nearby while reporters huddled around his son asking questions, the Pioneer Press said.
"We had the great opportunity to come see the Super Bowl," John McKenna told the newspaper. "Never in a million years did we think this would happen."
