Kim Kardashian Holds Auction for Typhoon Relief, Donates Only 10 Percent

Kim Kardashian announced last week that she'll be auctioning off some of her designer duds and donating the proceeds to victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, but the socialite failed to mention that only 10 percent of the money would actually go to charity.

The reality star posted this message on her personal website last week:

Editor's Note: ObamaCare Is Here. Are You Prepared?

"Hi guys, this is a very special auction because a portion of the proceeds of my eBay auction are going to International Medical Corps, which is a nonprofit organization that provides critical health services on remote islands where families are struggling to access medical care and basic resources like food, clean drinking water, and vital medications," she wrote. "The proceeds will go directly to the communities they’re serving in the Philippines and will help typhoon survivors get access to medical care and ultimately save lives."

Auction items include designer clothing, handbags, and shoes — some fetching bids of more than $1,000.

Kardashian's proposal sounded great, until the Daily Mail discovered that only a fraction of the proceeds actually went to typhoon victims. Twitter users bashed Kardashian, whose net worth is estimated at $40 million.
