Kim and Khloe Kardashian have been exploring their Armenian roots on a visit coming near the 100th anniversary of the Armenia Genocide.

The tour by the reality TV stars began last week and has included a visit to their ancestral home and a meeting with Prime Minister Minster Hovik Abrahamyan and other government officials, according to E! News.

The Kardashians' late father, Los Angeles attorney Robert Kardashian, was a third-generation Armenian immigrant, according to People magazine.

Abrahamyan said the "Keeping Up with the Kardashian" stars' visit helped bring attention to the country during the genocide's anniversary. Kim Kardashian expressed her pleasure meeting the prime minister in a Twitter post.

Khloé Kardashing posted a history lesson on Instagram along with photo of her and her sisiter sister in front of the Mother Armenia statue.

"The Mother Armenia statue symbolizes peace through strength," Khloe Kardashian said in the caption. "It can remind viewers of some of the prominent female figures in Armenian history. Who took up arms to help their husbands in their clashes with Turkish troops and Kurdish irregulars. I am woman hear me roar! Blessed to be here!!!"

Kim Kardashian brought her husband, rapper Kanye West, and daughter North West with her on the trip.

"Surprised to hear that the Kardashian sisters are in Armenia, amid much fanfare? If so, you must not be familiar with the reality star family," wrote the Washington Post's Emily Yahr. "Kim, especially, frequently talks about how she’s from Armenian descent … and has always wanted to visit the country."

The Kardashians were even able to visit the remains of the family's historical ancestral home in Gyumri, a city outside the Armenian capital of Yerevan, according to People.

Kourtney Kardashian told E! News she didn go because the trip was "making me too anxious with three young children. I do wish that I could have experienced the trip with my sisters but I do know that we will all go to Armenia together someday."
