Kirk Douglas turned 101 on Saturday and celebrated the event with son and fellow actor Michael Douglas among other family members and friends.
According to Deadline, Michael Douglas flew to California from New York to personally take part in the celebration before flying back out to be with his son Cameron, whose girlfriend is about to give birth. Michael Douglas' wife Catherine Zeta-Jones sang "Happy Birthday" to her father-in-law on Facetime.
Kirk Douglas's wife Anne, son Joel, and granddaughter Kelsey Douglas all took part in the party, the website added.
Kirk Douglas was nominated for lead actor Academy Awards three times in the 1950s, for "Lust for Live" (1957), "The Bad and the Beautiful (1953), and "Champion" (1950). He was bestowed an honorary Oscar in 1996.
Oscar-winning British actress Judi Dench met Douglas met for the first time ahead of her receiving the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival last month.
"I will never forget this moment,” Dench told People of meeting Douglas. "He is a legend in our family."
Grandson Dylan Douglas shared a photo of himself and his grandfather on Instagram.
Fans celebrated Douglas' big day with well-wishes on Twitter.
