Kris Jenner, mother and "momager" to the Kardashian clan, has reportedly struggled the most out of anyone with the recent news that ex-husband Bruce Jenner plans to soon live life as a woman.
"Kris had the most difficult time of anyone in the family," a Jenner insider
told People magazine this week. "She has had a lot to process. She has cried a lot about this, because it's an emotional thing for her."
The insider said Kris and the rest of the family recently had a sitdown with Bruce, and he told them he plans to become a woman. Kris initially challenged him, not fully believing such a transition is really what he wanted.
Since then, "She's come back around," reported the People magazine source. "She has gotten used to the idea. She was most upset because it was the great unknown, but she has really been reading up on things now, so she'll know what to expect."
The New York Times reported that it was this family conversation that put in motion Bruce's process of coming out to the public. Before that, rumors and innuendo had surrounded Bruce since his divorce last year, after which he grew out his hair and reportedly had a laryngeal shave to reduce his Adam's apple.
Bruce, 65, is said to have recorded the family meeting so that it could air as part of a new reality TV show showcasing his journey to womanhood. Before the launch of the show, Jenner will reportedly sit down for a tell-all interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer.
Kris and Bruce Jenner were married for 22 years and first separated in October 2013.
Last month, Bruce's stepdaughter Kim Kardashian said in an interview that she and the family are supportive of Bruce's upcoming transition, but remained vague on the details.
"I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he'll share whenever the time is right," she said. "I feel like that's his journey to talk about."
"Of course we support Bruce 100 percent," she added.
Bruce's mother, Esther Jenner, said earlier this week that she was "more proud of him now than when he stood on that podium and put the [Olympic] gold medal around his neck."
