People attending the San Diego County Fair this month will probably need to do a lot of walking around the fairgrounds to work off Chicken Charlie's latest creation – the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe.

It's the latest salvo in the donut sandwiches call to arms. Last week, Dunkin Donuts celebrated National Donut Day with its Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich. It consists of a fried egg and bacon between a split glazed donut. That bundle of joy will cost a patron 360 calories on the scale, said Fox News.

But Chicken Charlie, who made national headlines with his Deep-Fried Kool Aid in 2011, rolled out his Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe Saturday to eager Southern California fairgoers, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. His creation is made of ground beef, onion, tomato sauce and cheese, all piled between a split glazed donut.

A calorie count on the donut-sandwich could not be found, but if comments on Chicken Charlie's Facebook page are any indications, he will have plenty of customers willing to at least give it a try.

"I think I gained 10 lbs. and had 2 arteries clogged just reading this, but as always I just gotta try it," commented Tim Bender.

"Finally, a heart attack that tastes great," Christian Pineda followed.

Not everyone on the Facebook page found the super-charged donut sandwich so appealing.

"I don't think my stomach would thank me," commented Erin Fiske. "I think it would punch me in the face and hit the reject button."

The recent injection of bigger-calorie donuts does not mean companies like Dunkin' Donuts are abandoning some customers' needs to eat healthier, Stan Frankenthaler, executive chef and vice president of product innovation at Dunkin' Donuts told Fox News.

He said the chain's recent offerings of a breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage and a donut sandwich are in line with its goal of offering as much variety as possible. Already, he noted that people can customize their sandwiches in multiple ways, such as requesting that it be made with a certain type of bagel.

When asked whether a customer will also be able to order a sandwich on any type of doughnut, such as a chocolate cake doughnut, Frankenthaler said, "I'm sure the store will do that for you."
