Lake Havasu was the site of an F-16 crash Tuesday in which the Air Force pilot was able to eject and is in good condition.
The fighter jet from the 56th Fighter Wing diverted to the Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport in Arizona around 10:30 a.m. local time during a routine training flight, nearby Luke Air Force Base said in a statement, ABC News reported.
The plane was attempting to land when it went off the paved surface, which caused the pilot to eject, NBC 3 News reported. First responders came to the scene and the statement said there was no immediate danger to the public.
The pilot was taken to a nearby hospital, ABC News reported. Luke Air Force Base is about 15 miles from Phoenix.
It was the second F-16 to crash this month after Air Force Thunderbirds pilot Major Stephen Del Bagno was killed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada after a crash on April 5, CNN reported. That crash was also reported to be during routine training.
A high-speed boat crash on Lake Havasu on Saturday killed two men from Lake Havasu City and left a woman critically injured, KTNV reported. The occupants were wearing life jackets and the operator was wearing his safety kill switch.
