Lake Whitney Cliff Crumbles as Mansion Awaits Fate Below (Video)

As the cliff below the property crumbles, a mansion in Texas is slowly tumbling into a lake. The back porch went on Tuesday.

WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth reported that the 4,000 square-foot-home above Lake Whitney has been condemned and the owners evacuated about two weeks ago. There is no furniture inside and all utilities have been shut off.

Hill County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Mark Wilson says another chunk of cliff broke off Tuesday night and the back porch of the home had collapsed into the lake.

Soil and other debris have been falling from beneath the home at White Bluff Resort, some 60 miles south of Fort Worth. Tax records show the house was built in 2007 and is worth more than $700,000.

The house is in a gated community at White Bluff Resort, surrounded by security guards. A message left with the resort developer wasn't immediately returned Wednesday.
