Lammily, the realistic doll some call "normal Barbie," has just released a new commercial about the fast-approaching bikini season, and it offers a positive message for women of all ages.
"Lammily decides to go to the beach," reads the description posted alongside the new YouTube video.
"She is bombarded with advertisements and is disheartened when she gets to the beach until she sees that nobody's perfect, even the seemingly perfect models! Lammily isn't shy anymore about her stretchmarks and cellulite! Then she breaks it down with her new friends!"
The video — which also lampoons the recent twerking phenomenon — comes just a few months after Lammily's debut late last year. Her creator, artist Nickolay Lamm, originally ran a successful campaign on crowdfunding site Kickstarter to boost the project. In total, it raised more than $500,000.
The doll retails for $24.99, and was designed to have realistic body proportions — something Barbie does not possess.
"I feel that, right now, dolls are very 'perfect' looking, when, in real life, few of us have perfect skin,"
Lamm told The Huffington Post in November. "So, why not give dolls a 'real treatment?' Things like acne, stretch marks, and cellulite are a natural part of who we are."
