If conservatives had done what "Good Morning America" co-host Lara Spencer or the hosts of MSNBC's "Way Too Early" did in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, someone like Al Sharpton would be making money off it right now.
On Monday, Spencer wore a sombrero as she lifted a margarita in celebration of what she called "Cinco de Drinko" and shouted Olé! Similarly, Thomas Roberts and Louis Burgdorf of MSNBC's "Way Too Early" wore sombreros, swigged tequila, and shook maracas,
BuzzFeed reported.
In response, the president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Hugo Balta, released a statement of offense.

"This is simply the worst example I have seen of a discriminatory stereotypical portrayal of any community by any media. The fact that this was done by a news organization is abominable," it began.
"This wasn't a chance occurrence. This was a planned segment where many decision makers at MSNBC’s Way Too Early program agreed on the content and execution which concluded on what was seen nationwide. It feeds to the ignorant misconceptions of a rich and proud people who unfortunately are too often portrayed as caricatures to be scoffed at."
Spencer apologized the next day in a Tweet, and the guys at MSNBC aired a verbal apology.
