“Last Man Standing” will recast two of its main characters ahead of its seventh season Fox revival this fall.
Molly Ephraim, who played middle daughter Mandy, and Flynn Morrison, who played grandson Boyd, have both said they will not return for the new season on Fox, according to Deadline.
The other cast members, including Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Jonathan Adams, Amanda Fuller, Christopher Sanders, and Jordan Masterson will return. Hector Elizondo had been attached to NBC comedy pilot “Guess Who Died,” but made a deal to return to “Last Man Standing” last month after the pilot was not picked up, Deadline reported.
Kaitlyn Dever, who plays youngest daughter Eve, is still negotiating a deal to return on a recurring basis, Page Six reported.
Kevin Abbott will return as executive producer and showrunner, along with other veterans as writers and fellow producers, Deadline reported.
The show will be in the same time slot — Fridays at 8 p.m. — as it was when it ran on ABC, where it was one of the the network’s most highly rated shows after six seasons when it was canceled.
Fans called for the show to be revived after its cancellation, and those calls were renewed after the initial success of ABC’s “Roseanne” reboot last spring.
“Last Man Standing” will premiere on Sept. 28 on Fox.
Many fans were disappointed the two roles would have to be recast, but were still excited about the show’s return.
