Leah Remini has said that the rape charges against Danny Masterson are proof that the victims who were allegedly harassed and embarrassed by the Church of Scientology after reporting the crimes are finally being heard.

Masterson, who is a member of the Church of Scientology, was charged on Wednesday for raping three women in separate incidents in 2001 and 2003. The accusations came to light in 2017, when the victims reported it to the church. It took three years for action to be taken but Remini, who was previously a member of Scientology, believes this is a sign that the church will get what it deserves.

"Finally, victims are being heard when it comes to Scientology! Praise the lord!" she wrote in a tweet on Wednesday. "This is just the beginning Scientology, your days of getting away with it is coming to an end!"

The women who have accused Masterson of rape have opened up and said they were subjected to "continued harassment, embarrassment and re-victimization by Masterson and the Church of Scientology" after coming forth with their allegations, according to a statement released on behalf of lawyer Robert Thompson and cited by Newsweek.

Remini has been a harsh critic of the Church of Scientology after leaving the religion in 2013. She has accused it of sexual and physical abuse, but Scientology officials previously told Rolling Stone magazine her claims were "false allegations in an effort to garner publicity" for her series "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath."

As for Remini calling for an investigation, the officials say “it is pure balderdash. The Church is a religious institution committed to our religious, social and humanitarian missions."
