LeAnn Rimes' life has resembled a country song over the past few years, complete with sad feelings of depression, stress and anxiety.
She's better now and singing about it.
With a new album, "Spitfire," due out, a loyal husband and a positive outlook, the 30-year-old is opening up about the dark emotional period that led to her seeking treatment at a rehabilitation center.

I went in and took care of myself because I was stressed," she told Us Weekly of her decision to check into rehab in August 2012, one day after her birthday. "I was depressed and anxious, and I didn't know how to process everything."
Elaborating, she added that her "whole life has been out there for everyone to judge" since she was 13 years old, and going away was “something I really needed to do.”
Rimes' tumultuous time began with her 2009 affair with Cibrian, whom she met on the set of the Lifetime TV movie, "Northern Lights," when both were married to other people. Rimes and husband Dean Sheremet separated as reports of her extramarital relationship surfaced. She moved in with Cibrian after her divorce was finalized, in December of that year.
Soon after, Cibrian divorced his wife of eight years, Brandi Glanville. Rimes and Cibrian married in 2011. Even in her contentment, the country star struggles to process the guilt she feels over cheating on her first husband and ending Cibrian's first marriage, as well as fears that she or Cibrian may be unfaithful.
"I was feeling all these crazy emotions and feeling terrible about myself and was disgusted by myself and thought I was pathetic," she said. "I think I opened up the can of worms for myself by writing this record. There were a lot of things I didn't even realize I was feeling ... I needed to go somewhere and really process all of that stuff."
Channeling her personal turmoil provided fodder for her new album "Spitfire," and well as offer therapy during the writing process. She says now that her past missteps have given her strength.

"Sometimes it takes walking through those tough times to come out the other side stronger and wiser," she said. "I'm gonna make mistakes as I move on in life, but that's who we are, and I'm fortunate that I've grown a lot and I'm proud of who I am now ... it's a good place to be.
"I'm the strongest I've ever been. I'm the most honest with myself that I've ever been, I'm the most secure I've ever been about myself and my family, and I'm the most confident I've been in a really long time."
In other words, perhaps the "What Have I Done" singer is "Sittin' on Top of the World."
