Former MLB star Lenny Dykstra was arrested Wednesday on drug charges and for allegedly making terroristic threats to an Uber driver.
Dykstra, the 55-year-old former Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets outfielder, reportedly displayed a firearm and threatened to kill his driver because the driver wouldn’t change the destination provided on the rideshare app, police said, NJ.com reported.
Instead of proceeding to the location Dykstra requested, the 47-year-old Uber driver sped his vehicle to a police station and sounded his horn to attract the attention of the officers inside. The driver then ran from his vehicle.
Officers were unable to find a weapon but they did find an assortment of drugs on Dykstra including cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy, NJ.com reported.
This isn’t the three-time All Star's first run-in with law enforcement. He served six and a half months in jail for bankruptcy fraud in 2012 and was accused of stealing $50,000 in jewelry from a porn star three years ago.
Dykstra retired from baseball in 1998 but hadn't played since the 1996 season.
