Lisa Bonet Tweet on Bill Cosby Rape Case Now Said to Be Hoax

By    |   Monday, 24 November 2014 10:07 AM EST

Lisa Bonet, who played eldest daughter Denise Huxtable on "The Cosby Show," said a tweet attributed to her that appeared to weigh in on the rape controversy came from a hoax account, not her.

"Lisa Bonet has no social media of any kind," her manager told People magazine. "Any posts made in her name were made by impersonators with unverified accounts. She also has no comment on the ongoing story."

The original tweet that made national headlines came Sunday, and was re-tweeted over 1,000 times. It didn't address the Cosby controversy directly, but the message seemed applicable. The fake Lisa Bonet account was suspended shortly after it became clear it didn't belong to the actress.

Bonet is the second Cosby cast member to get pulled into the recent controversy.

After rumors surfaced saying that Raven-Symone, who played step-granddaughter Olivia on the show, had been assaulted by Cosby, she took to Instagram to put them to rest.

"I was NOT taking advantage of by Mr. Cosby when I was on the Cosby Show! I was practically a baby on that show and this is truly a disgusting rumor that I want no part of!" she wrote late last week.

Cosby has been accused by at least 8 women of sexual assaults that occurred in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The most recent accuser to come forward was Jewel Allison, who told the New York Daily News the comedian drugged her and placed her hands on his genitals in the late 80s at his New York home.
