Lisa Lynn Masters, a television actress known for her roles on "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," "Ugly Betty," and "Gossip Girl" was found dead in a Peru hotel room earlier this week.
Masters, 52, was found inside of her closet and appeared to have hanged herself with her skirt, E! News reported, citing local news reports. Authorities told those news outlets that antidepressants were found in the hotel room as well.
"As to her husband and family's wishes, we hope that the industry can mourn her death without details. In these darkening days, we hope those who have had the pleasure of knowing her will see how brightly she shined and will find that light within themselves and continue to share it with others — just as she would have," a representative for Masters said to the Tribune Media Wire.
Peru21 reported that Masters was found at the Nuevo Mundo Hotel in Lima, Peru, according to E! News.
"Lisa's beloved husband William is shocked and grieving her sudden loss," said a GoFundMe page set up by friends for funeral expenses, including transporting her body back to the United States.
"William is a healing arts practitioner and a longtime Brooklyn resident. Lisa and William lived modestly and both contributed to the expenses of their household. Without Lisa's income, William faces an immediate challenge to covering the rent on his apartment among other things," the statement continued.
The GoFundMe statement said that a funeral will be held in Masters' childhood home of Asheville, North Carolina.
Masters also appeared in the television series "Nashville" and "Law & Order: SVU" as well as the movies "It's Complicated" and "The Stepford Wives."
Twitter users shared their condolences.
