Loretta Lynn, 81, best known for her autobiography and song "Coal Miner's Daughter," had six children with her late husband Doolittle "Mooney" Lynn.
Betty Sue Lynn is survived by two daughters, Lynn Markworth and Audrey Dryer, and five grandchildren.
Loretta Lynn's eldest son, Jack Benny Lynn, drowned in 1984 while attempting to cross the Duck River on horseback near Waverly. Lynn's husband, who had been married to her for 48 years, died in 1996 from complications related to diabetes.
Loretta Lynn still performs and has a strong fan base.
CMT reported that Lynn performed last Friday at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. She is scheduled to resume her performance schedule on Aug. 9, with a sold-out show at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville, Mo.
In 2010, artists like Kid Rock, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, and Sheryl Crow contributed tracks to the tribute album "Coal Miner's Daughter: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn."
"A tribute to the toughest Nashville queen ever, this record has a steely spine,"
Rolling Stone's Jody Rosen wrote in 2010. "There are feisty anthems (Carrie Underwood belting 'You're Lookin' at Country'), weepers (Lucinda Williams' take on 'Somebody Somewhere') and 'Coal Miner's Daughter,' blasted out by Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert and Lynn herself. And who knew Paramore's Hayley Williams could honky-tonk? As for Kid Rock's 'I Know How': He doesn't know how (to sing this song), but his heart's in the right place."
