The same lottery numbers paid off twice for a Chicago man aptly named Larry Gambles.
On June 7, Gambles won a $1.05 million Lucky Day Lotto jackpot from the Illinois lottery using the numbers from the jerseys of his high school basketball team,
the New York Daily News reported. Those same numbers won him $50,000 from the Illinois lottery in 2007.
“I can’t believe they paid off again,” said Gambles, a 65-year-old retired school administrator.
The winning ticket was purchased at Harvey's Corner BP in Country Club Hills,
the Chicago Tribune reported. The gas station will get $10,500 for selling the winning ticket.
Gambles plans to share his winnings with family and friends, the newspaper reported. He advised other lottery players to "pick your favorite numbers and stick with them. It worked for me!"
Twitter users commented with surprise and amusement.
