A Lotus semi-truck recently broke the Guinness World Record for longest ramp jump while simultaneously launching over a Lotus Formula 1 race car speeding at the same 70 mph.
The split second stunt was released to YouTube last week, showing the 14-wheeler pull an Evel Knievel while hurtling forth at 70 mph. In total, it flew 83 feet and 7 inches before touching back down on the track,
Car and Driver reported.
The truck was driven by none other than Mike Ryan, the guy known for racing a big rig up Pikes Peak and drifting them around race tracks. His partner in crime for this stunt was 37-year-old Martin Ivanov, who piloted the F1 car under the semi as it leapt off the ramp.
Both men are experienced, professional stunt drivers who've driven for big-time Hollywood productions like the James Bond movies, Jason Bourne movies, and Fast and Furious franchise.
The stunt itself was sponsored by EMC Technology, which helps the Lotus F1 team with their technical and computing needs.
"The world record-breaking video has been far more successful than we could have ever imagined," Jonathan Martin, marketing officer for EMC and Lotus F1, said a few days after the video's release.
"We have been extremely fortunate to partner with Lotus F1 Team, a team that values innovation and new approaches to marketing. We at EMC are looking forward to continuing the technology partnership and redefining records in the coming years."
