MTV has decided to bring back the former NBC show "Fear Factor" with new host Ludacris for 12 episodes, beginning May 30 at 10 p.m.

The reboot will feature gentler challenges and will be more playful overall in an attempt to reach Generation Z audiences, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While the old show, hosted by Joe Rogan, had competitors eating worms and other disgusting things, the reboot will target the fears of today’s youth, like couch surfing from 300 feet and soaking cell phones in water.

Original executive producers Anthony Carbone and Kevin Wehrenberg will return for the new MTV iteration along with Endemol Shine North America, which produced the series on NBC from 2001-2006, THR reported.

“MTV is about celebrating youth culture, and with the reinvented ‘Fear Factor,’ we are putting the power in our audience’s hands to face and overcome their biggest fears,” said Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, VH1, and Logo, THR reported. “We are thrilled to partner with Ludacris, one of the biggest global stars who has a rich history with MTV, to energize this franchise for a whole new generation.”

The show will feature eight competitors in each episode, grouped into four teams of two. Winners will take home a $50,000 prize as in the original show, CNN reported.

Twitter was excited about the "Fear Factor" reboot and new host.
