The 6-foot-4 Scott had significant accomplishments of her own, starting with a successful modeling career that began in her teens and evolved into her designing a high-end clothing line worn by celebrities and high-profile politicians.
Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rene Zellweger are among the celebrities Scott dressed for red carpet events,
The Los Angeles Times reported.
First lady Michelle Obama also reportedly wore Scott's dresses.
"She pushed aside interest in what was happening in fashion trends and on the runways, and designed for women, to give them confidence with their bodies in looks that were so beautiful," Eric Wilson, the fashion news director at InStyle magazine,
told Reuters after Scott's death.
"She is someone who will always inspire me both personally and professionally," Los Angeles-based stylist Cristina Ehrlich told The Los Angeles Times. "I always addressed her 'Lady LS' because for me, L'Wren was the chicest woman I've ever known and I felt she deserved a title."
The 49-year-old Scott was found dead of an apparent suicide in her New York City apartment on Monday. She reportedly hanged herself, according to police.
On Tuesday, in the wake of Scott's death, the Rolling Stones announced that they would be canceling a concert in Perth, Australia, that had been scheduled for Wednesday,
CNN reported.
