Macey Wright's heart transplant news -- that she's getting one -- brought joyful sobs from the 14-year-old Utah girl born with a congenital heart defect, and her reaction was captured on video that has gone rival.
The emotional reaction was captured by her mother and the video was posted on the family's Facebook page Macey's New Heart. It has received 427,000 views and more than 300 comments.
Macey underwent the transplant operation at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City on Aug. 29, said KSTU-TV, and is currently recovering with the new heart.
"I wanted everybody else to see how amazing that call was for our friends and family," Macey Wright's mother, Patrice Wright, told ABC News. "She's a pretty tender, sweet-hearted girl. I did think she'd cry tears of joy, but I didn't think she'd be that elated."
The family shared an update on Macey on Facebook last week.
Patrice Wright said her daughter, who had been posting YouTube videos of her experience, wants to be an advocate for organ donations.
"I really wanted to bring awareness to kids with heart defects and how important it is to be an organ donor and give awareness to being an organ donor," Macey Wright told the Deseret News.
"I feel like my videos give people who are going through the same process some advice and (help them) know that everything will be OK, that they're supported and they're loved. And, really, that they're in good hands."
Many shared their congratulations to Macey on Facebook.
