British police investigating the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann are planning on releasing an image of a possible suspect who was
seen near the McCann family's vacation apartment in Portugal the night the girl was taken, The Guardian reported.
The computer-generated image, called an efit, will be released to coincide with a BBC Crimewatch broadcast on Monday, where Scotland Yard detectives and Kate and Gerry McCann will announce new information in the recently reopened investigation.

McCann was just days away from her fourth birthday when she disappeared from the family's rented vacation apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Her parents had been out to dinner with friends, leaving McCann and her twin siblings asleep in the residence unsupervised.
The Portuguese police's handling of the case — which saw her parents named as suspects before eventually being cleared — and their decision to shelve the investigation in 2008 has been widely condemned by the British newspapers and tabloid media.
In June, Britain's Home Office decided to fund a new, full-scale investigation into McCann's disappearance. Scotland Yard has always maintained that the girl might still be alive, having found no evidence to the contrary.
As part of the new investigation, police are also
scouring the phone records of everyone who was in the area of the Portuguese holiday resort in May 2007.
"I am confident we're getting closer just by filling more pieces of the jigsaw,"
Gerry McCann said last week in an interview with the BBC.
