Madonna's son Rocco Ritchie caused a social media stir when his mother posted an Instagram photo of her 13-year-old holding a bottle of booze to ring in the New Year.
The photo, posted Saturday, shows Ritchie holding what appears to be a bottle of gin with two others. The caption says, "The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014."

The photo runs contrary to a comment the boy made during a 2012 appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," in which he said that Madonna runs a tight ship at home.
"She's a good mother. Yes. That's all I have to say," he said. "She's very strict, but in a good way."
E! News pointed out that the legal drinking age in the United States is 21, but in Switzerland, where the photo was taken, it is 16.
This isn't the first time a photo of Rocco has caused controversy.
"[The photo] comes three days after Rocco posted snaps of himself and pal Dom Sesto holding what appeared to be glass of champagne as well as another bar shot captioned: 'faded,'" the
Daily Mail reported about the son of Madonna and director Guy Ritchie.
Some Twitter users questioned why Madonna would want to bring such negative attention to her son.
Others defended the photo, saying there were worst things happening in the world.
Madonna took to Instagram on Sunday to defend herself, writing that the photo and caption was a joke.
"No one was drinking we were just having fun," Madonna wrote. "Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!"
