Malaysian MP Sorry For Hitler Tweet After Germany-Brazil Match

By    |   Friday, 11 July 2014 01:59 PM EDT

A Malaysian politician said he's sorry for the insensitive Hitler tweet he posted after Germany's World Cup win over Brazil earlier this week, but he's still continuing to draw gasps with his online musings.

Bung Moktar Radin, a member of the United Malays National Organization, took to Twitter Tuesday after Germany beat Brazil 7-1 with the following sentiment:

Radin's comment immediately sparked a firestorm of controversy and many profanity laced messages from Germans, leading to a series of tweets from Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Radin issued an apology Thursday ...

... but continued to post inflammatory messages.

"I don't know what's wrong with people sometimes," he told the Malaysia Star Online. "Hitler is part of history and the German team fought like how he did."
