A male version of Hooters has opened in Texas, offering up muscular male waiters clad in short shorts.
Tallywackers has flipped the Hooters script, offering diners a whole experience by having hunks in
tight clothes serve them food, CW33.com reported. The Dallas establishment opened over the weekend.
One excited guest told the local station he was hoping to see “cute men, scantily clad,” and was not disappointed one bit.
“I think it's about time men had a place to go to — gay men, at least — instead of places like Hooters and Twin Peaks,” another customer said.
Restaurant owner Rodney Duke said he got the name from his grandfather who used to tell him to “stop playing with your tallywacker.”
Appearing on the Kidd Kraddick Morning show last month, Duke said he "pondered for 10 years why there wasn’t a male equivalent of this type of ‘breastaurant’ eatery where women are dressed in skimpy and revealing clothing," CW33.com reported.
A Tallywackers employee told the station that “people can definitely expect to see the wonderful wait [staff] we’ve got going on. Of course the men are going to be in nice little shorts.”
When asked about the uniform of tiny shorts, one of the servers said he appreciated the “breeze” while another applauded the “exciting new concept.”
While the uniforms are somewhat revealing, the Dallas health department requires all waiters to be fully clothed when serving food.
The restaurant is located in the center of Dallas’ gay community but the staff insists it is an establishment for everyone.
"While we are aiming towards the LGBT community as part of our audience, we are also expecting and welcome, a
diverse clientele including women," a spokesperson told The Huffington Post.
As far as menu goes, the restaurant offers pizza, steaks, pastas, and salads, as well as themed food including a spicy burger called “The Flamer.”
“Tallywackers is more than just a pretty face, show tunes, and six pack abs," Duke said. "Everyone should come out and try our fun restaurant concept showcasing hot men and a five-star chef that prepares food at three-star prices."
