Mama June, the matriarch of the now-canceled TLC reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," is crying foul that the network has not yet taken "19 Kids and Counting" off the air after the alleged Josh Duggar molestation scandal broke this week.
Mama June, whose real name is Shannon Thompson, had her show canceled by TLC last October after allegations broke that she was dating Mark McDaniel, who had been convicted of
child molestation, according to E! News. Thompson at the time denied dating McDaniel but TLC moved forward with the cancellation regardless.
"June says she never molested anyone and McDaniel wasn't ever on her show, yet Josh Duggar is a central figure on the TLC show and admitted to molesting some of his sisters,
who are also on the show," TMZ reported Friday.
"What's more, she believes Jim Bob and Michelle covered up their son's misdeeds. With that backdrop, June says she's out hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the abrupt cancellation of her show and if the Duggar family stays on the air, she wants to sue the network for what she believes is blatantly unfair and inconsistent treatment," the gossip site continued.
In Touch magazine first brought the Josh Duggar, 27, incident to light, publishing a story this week stating that Springdale, Arkansas, police investigated the eldest Duggar sibling on accusations that he molested five underage girls when he was 14.
The gossip magazine said that Jim Bob Duggar, the family patriarch and former Arkansas legislator, waited more than a year after his son allegedly confessed to the behavior before
contacting law enforcement, The Washington Post reported.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, along with
Josh Duggar, made statements on Facebook this week addressing the issue.
"I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation," Josh Duggar wrote.
"I read that the Duggar family said this happening with their son brought them closer to God and each other," Thompson complained to TMZ. "So they're saying it's ok to have family touch time? Hell no."
In canceling "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" last fall, TLC wrote in a statement that "the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children's ongoing comfort and well-being," according to E! News
