The "Mamma Mia" sequel will reunite Oscar winners Cher and Meryl Streep on film for the first time since 1983's "Silkwood."
"Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again," scheduled for release July 20, 2018, returns the original cast from the 2008 hit movie, based off a Broadway play based on songs from the group ABBA, Entertainment Weekly noted.
Cher and Streep were both nominated for Oscars for their roles in "Silkwood." Cher went on to win a best actress Academy Award in 1988 for her role in "Moonstruck." Streep has won a best actress Oscar for "Iron Lady" in 2012 and supporting actress in 1980 for "Kramer vs. Kramer."
Cher tweeted out teasers and a confirmation over the weekend about her role, which Entertainment Weekly said is being kept under wraps.
CNN reported that movie returnees include Julie Walters as Rosie, Christine Baranski as Tanya, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper reunite as Sophie and Sky, and Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth as Sophie's three possible dads: Sam, Bill and Harry.
The new movie marks Cher's return to the big screen since she starred in the 2010 flick "Burlesque."
Mamma Mia made $144.1 million domestically and another $465.7 million overseas when it was released in 2008, according to Box Office Mojo.
