A man who reportedly tried to open a plane's emergency exit doors before landing was escorted off an American Airlines flight over the weekend.
The plane was headed for Minneapolis from Los Angeles on Saturday, according to CBS News.
"There was a lot of yelling and screaming. I thought perhaps two of the passengers had gotten into maybe a fist fight," passenger Richard Munassi told WCCO-TV.
However, the commotion Munassi heard was passengers trying to stop the man in question from opening the plane's exit doors while the pilot was landing the plane.
"It wasn't immediately after (the pilot) letting us know that we were in descent. It was a couple of minutes afterward, so he had a plan to open that door as we were getting close to the ground," Munassi said.
Passengers were eventually able to subdue the man just before the pilot made what Munassi described as "probably the hottest" and quickest landing he's ever experienced.
"We came in hot, probably the hottest landing I've ever been on and I fly all the time," he said. "Everyone was dead quiet on the flight. You could cut the tension with a knife."
Once the plane landed, the man was escorted off the plane by several officers and Munassi caught it on video.
"I think American Airlines did a great job, especially the pilot of the plane kind of keeping everything in order and keeping everyone calm," said Munassi.
Salman Elmi, who was also on the plane during the incident, described it as a "crazy experience," The Daily Mail noted.
"It was a crazy experience. I just hear shouting, 'I'm about to punch him,''' Elmi said about the passengers who were trying to subdue the man.
It's not yet clear charges the man is facing, but the FBI is currently investigating the incident.
