A man yelling "bomba" onboard a plane terrified United Airlines passengers, triggering a bomb scare and emergency search late Sunday evening.
Flight 570, which was grounded at Denver International Airport, was preparing for takeoff to Salt Lake City when the man allegedly shot up from his seat and attacked another passenger while frantically yelling "bomba, bomba," Newsweek reported.
A witness, Tara Kraatz posted about the ordeal on Facebook, describing how the man leapt from his seat, assaulted the other traveler then opened the emergency door while shouting "bomb."
Another passenger, identified only as Steve, told Fox News that the man "climbed over the back of his seat, started striking the passenger behind him," and then "shouted out in a foreign language bomba, bomba."
After the outburst, the man allegedly returned to his seat, where he calmly remained supervised by flight attendants as the plane returned to the terminal, before being escorted from the flight.
United Airlines spokesperson Andrea Hiller confirmed the incident and told Newsweek that passengers were forced to disembark from the plane and board another flight for Salt Lake City.
"Flight 570 from Denver to Salt Lake City returned to the gate after a customer attempted to open the exit door," Hiller said. "Law enforcement officials met the flight, which re-departed for Salt Lake City on a different aircraft."
According to Fox News, the man has not been identified and it is unclear whether any charges were pressed against him.
