A homeless woman named Marilyn Hartman has earned the title of serial stowaway after she was arrested trying to sneak on a flight at Los Angeles International Airport soon after she was picked up for stowing away on a different flight.

Hartman, 62, was arrested after allegedly stowing away on a flight from San Jose to Los Angeles on Monday. But on Thursday, she was arrested once again as she attempted to get on board another flight, USA Today reported.

The San Jose Mercury News said Hartman apparently tried to board a plane at San Francisco International Airport at least seven times without a ticket. She moved to the Mineta San Jose International airport and successfully snuck past boarding agents.

Airport personnel realized she didn’t have a ticket and Hartman was arrested in Los Angeles. On Wednesday, she got out of jail after pleading no contest on a misdemeanor trespassing charge and was told to stay away from the airport. According to USA Today, she didn't, and she was arrested again on Thursday at LAX.

The Mercury News said Hartman had tried previously to get on flights and has a long history of dealing with social services in the area. She has “a major mental illness,” District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe told the Mercury News, but only stayed one week at a local mental health program.

Quoting from a blog apparently written by Hartman, the Mercury said it appeared she had made a habit of traveling by stowing away.

"I have slipped through tight security spots in order to fly to another city without a plane ticket and inexplicably let go after authorities discussed the matter among themselves," the Mercury quoted from Hartman’s post.

Hartman met with reporters Monday after her first arrest and told them, according to the SFGate, “I am an American first and foremost, and I believe very strongly in the security of this country and so in that regard it was very stupid. I certainly have no idea or could give no hints to anyone who would be interested in doing that because it was wrong and it is wrong.”
