Mark Hamill played the villainous Trickster in Tuesday's episode of "The Flash" on the CW, a role the "Star Wars" star said he was nervous about reprising it at age 63.
"I loved it but it is intimidating," Hamill told a group of reporters at an advance screening,
E! Online reported this week.
"I didn't want to show up and ruin a series I liked. That's the danger. It was terribly intimidating until I got there. Once you get into the spirit of it, it's like slipping into comfy old pair of tennis shoes."
Hamill played The Trickster on the 1990 version of "The Flash" that aired on CBS, and was somewhat surprised when he was asked to come aboard the new series.
"I thought I would play a colleague of John Wesley Shipp's, a professor, something age-appropriate," he said. "I'm not getting back into the one-piece jumpsuit, the spandex deal! When they said [they wanted me to play] the Trickster, I just couldn't believe it. I was very skeptical."
In the new series, The Trickster is serving a life sentence in Iron Heights Prison. He's upset to find out that a younger criminal, played by Devon Graye, is terrorizing Central City under the same name — muddling his legacy.
"I think the world of [Graye] and as far as I'm concerned, he's a worthy successor," Hamill said. "He's just tremendous."
In addition to "The Flash," Hamill is also in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" movie.
