Martha Stewart says pumpkin spice is beneath her. Speaking about the fall favorite in her recent interview on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Stewart agreed when a caller put the words in her mouth that pumpkin spice is “for basic bitches.”
Every fall, pumpkin spice is a staple ingredient in everything from lattes to pies. And every year it seems to invade a little more shelf space.
Although Stewart features numerous pumpkin spice recipes and pumpkin spice-inspired DIYs on her website, marthastewart.com, the domestic diva seems to have changed her personal opinion on the autumn flavor, website SheKnows said after tuning in to the show.
During the interview, a viewer asked Stewart:
“Martha, is pumpkin spice-everything delicious or for basic bitches only?”
To which Stewart replied, without hesitation:
“The latter.”
Host Andy Cohen was delighted by the revelation.
"Martha Stewart says pumpkin spice is for basic bitches, you guys. I love this — this is the greatest moment of this show ever!" he exclaimed.
Stewart responded to his reaction by laughing mirthfully.
In addition to her world-renowned success as a chef and recipe book author, Stewart is also a prolific interior decorator, landscape designer and television personality.
And she isn't the only celebrity chef to voice her opinion on pumpkin spice. When asked which food trends he wishes would die already on a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) last year, fellow foodie and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain said:
“I would like to see the pumpkin spice craze drowned in its own blood. Quickly.”
