Mary Kay Letourneau, the former teacher who infamously spent seven years in prison for sleeping with her 12-year-old student, was arrested in Washington state over the weekend after failing to appear in court on charges of driving on a suspended license.
Letourneau, 51, was arrested around 8 p.m. Sunday night and
booked into King County Jail early Monday morning, KIROTV.com reported. She was released at 1:05 p.m. after posting $5,000 bail.
Letourneau became something of a celebrity in 1997 when the story of her sexual relationship with 12-year-old Vili Fualaau, a student in her class, was splashed all over tabloid front pages. Then 34 and pregnant with Fualaau's child, Letourneau was sentenced to prison.

She was paroled in January 1998 and instructed to have no contact with Fualaau. But just a month later the couple was caught together and Letourneau, pregnant again, was sentenced to seven years in state prison.
She married Fualaau in 2005, a year after her release.
Letourneau ran into trouble again last year, though, when officials found her driving on a suspended license, which she got from unpaid traffic tickets, according to KIROTV.com. She was reportedly told to complete a relicensing program but never did and so police issued a criminal warrant for her arrest in September.
She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
