Mathew Perry and fiancée Molly Hurwitz have split months after announcing their engagement.
The "Friends" star shared the news in a statement obtained by People on Tuesday.
"Sometimes things just don't work out and this is one of them," Perry said. "I wish Molly the best."
Perry first announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Hurwitz late in November.
"I decided to get engaged," he said in a statement to People. "Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time."
The pair began dating in 2018 but rumors of a relationship had been circulating after they were spotted together outside a restaurant in West Hollywood, according to Daily Mail. Not long after, Hurwitz, who works as a literary manager, confirmed their relationship to her private Instagram account.
"According to my parents' custody agreement, my mother was not allowed to have a Christmas tree... Fortunately, there's no such agreement for a daughter's boyfriend, so Hurwitz gets a treeeeeeee!!!," she captioned a photo of herself and Perry, according to the outlet.
News of their split comes days after the premiere of the "Friends" Reunion, which saw Perry get back together with his former costars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc. While the special was a hit, it also sparked concerns among fans who feared for Perry's wellbeing. There were moments during the reunion show in which Perry appeared to slur his speech. This left viewers wondering whether the actor, who has had multiple stints in rehab, had relapsed.
A source later told The Sun that his labored speech was due to an emergency tooth procedure he had undergone the same day of the reunion.
"That was said to impact his wellbeing and also how he was feeling. He had been in pain from what we understand, which caused the slurred speech," the insider said.
"Friends" Reunion director Ben Winston also defended Perry during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t. I loved working with him," Winston said. "He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners in the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this."
