Matthew Perry might have bullied Justin Trudeau when they were kids in school, but a rematch isn't likely now, considering the “Friends” star would be taking on a Canadian Prime Minister with an army at his disposal.
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Perry recounted a time when he had bullied Trudeau back in elementary school in Ottawa, Canada, said the New York Daily News.
“I have a story about him that I’m not proud of,” Perry said on the show, according to US magazine. “My friend Chris Murray, who was also in the fifth grade in Canada, reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau. We both beat him up.”
“I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren’t,” he added. “It was pure jealousy and, you know, we beat him up. His dad [Pierre Trudeau] was prime minister, but that wasn’t the reason we beat him up. I think he was the only kid in school that we could beat up.”
“I’m not bragging about this, this terrible. I was a stupid kid,” Perry said, according to The Telegraph. “But I think I was instrumental to him going to such great heights and becoming the prime minister,” he jokingly said.
Trudeau's response?
“I’ve been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn’t wanted to punch Chandler? How about a rematch,” Trudeau wrote in an “April Fools’ Day” tweet over the weekend, The Daily News noted.
Perry turned down a possible rematch though.
“I think I will pass at your request for a rematch kind sir (given that you currently have an army at your disposal),” Perry tweeted.
The two haven’t been in contact since their childhood.
