Mayim Bialik, star of "The Big Bang Theory," has taken a lot of flak for her attachment parenting beliefs in the past, but now the actress and mother of two says the progressive childrearing method isn't worth fighting over.
According to WebMD.com, attachment parenting is a style of parenting that is said to foster a close emotional bond between a child and a caregiver. Different techniques include skin-to-skin contact through "baby-wearing" (carrying your baby in a sling across your body rather than in a stroller), prolonged breastfeeding, co-sleeping, and co-bathing, among others.
Bialik's practice of attachment parenting irked some people so much, they would come up and
start fights with her in public, she told Yahoo! omg!

"If I'm talking to girlfriends, if I'm talking to random people, and we're talking about parenting, I tell them what works for me and why. But a lot of people want to ask me things so that they can fight with me," Bialik said. "And just because I'm a public person, who happened to have breastfed and slept with her kids, that doesn't mean that I want to fight with you on the street or in the supermarket. So, I think you have to be really careful to understand why people want to know what they want to know."
Bialik, who also wrote a book called "Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way," said she also received mostly negative attention when it came out that she breastfed her younger son Fred until he was 4 years old.

"Obviously the notion of an older child nursing is very strange to some people. In certain cultures it's not. And I was very careful about when and how I chose to breastfeed my [children]. I put a lot of boundaries and limits around it and again took the guidance of women who had sort of walked this path before me," she said. "I think the notion of breastfeeding at all is still very controversial in some circles."
Bialik, who holds a doctoral degree in neuroscience from UCLA, rose to fame in the '80s and '90s, most notably as the title character in the sitcom "Blossom."
