Fox News’ Megyn Kelly is taking a vacation after an "interesting week" following the Republican presidential debate.
“The Kelly File” hostess announced her intention to spend time with her family and relax on her Wednesday show.
The vacation was pre-planned, according to Us Weekly.
"Well, it's been an interesting week. And a long six months without a vacation for yours truly," Kelly, 44, said. "So I'll be taking the next week-and-a-half off, spending some time with my husband and my kids trying to relax. The big challenge is always trying to put down the electronica. ... I'm going to try! I'm going to look at my little ones' faces and go for bike rides and play at the beach."
At least part of her "interesting" week involved Donald Trump, whom Kelly tangled with on the first GOP presidential debate Aug. 6 when she asked him about disparaging remarks he made about women.
"She is a lightweight. I couldn't care less about her,"
Trump, 69, told CNN’s Don Lemon the next day. "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever."
Outraged women began tweeting updates about their menstruation cycles to Trump online, using the hashtag #periodsarenotaninsult. Trump has denied that he was referring to Kelly being on her period when he said that.
Many people have accused Kelly of being unfair in her line of questioning to Trump during the debate, and the candidate himself agreed, saying, "The questions to me were not nice. I didn't think they were appropriate."
